Strait Talk

In this summer 2008 edition of Strait Talk, we discuss the latest hot topic from the world of employee benefits, recent successful projects and news of our expansion in to the international market.

International HR requires a different approach

To fit in with our international theme this quarter, we take a look at how the globalisation of business creates more challenges for HR professionals and their departments.

The role of human resources is dealt with in many different ways across the world.  The challenge for an organisation moving in to the international arena is to be flexible enough to respect the individual HR function of different countries, whilst building a global benefits and HR strategy that incorporates all.

Multinationals face the dilemma of whether to control benefits and rewards centrally or to keep them controlled locally.  The advantage of the latter is that regional differences and local customs will always be taken in to consideration, without damaging the existing, successful employee relationships of various different countries.

Individual organisations now have to come to a conclusion about what will benefit everyone and which strategies will help achieve the overall goals of the business, globally.

The new look Strait Logics!

As promised in our spring edition of the Strait Talk, we bring you exciting news of the new Strait Logics website.  After months of design, rebranding and development work, we are finally able to reveal our revamped image.

Sanjay Shingadia, Managing Director for Strait Logics commented; "We needed to redefine ourselves as a software and development company within the UK.  The new website is structured to emphasise our unique selling point and eradicates any confusion about where Strait Logics sit in relation to ther HR service providers."

The website launch coincides with the opening of our new North American office, based just outside New York in the United States.  With the website now integrating both the UK and US HR markets and the successful completion of our first North American project with a prestigious consultancy, we are confident that Strait Logics can make an impact in the United States.

So...all that's left to do is to thank Team Rewards for their fantastic initial designs and unveil the updated Strait Logics!  Click on the following link to take a look at the new and improved site.

PDF on Demand generates the solution

Our PDF on Demand product proved itself to be at the forefront of cutting edge HR technology recently, when used in conjuction with an existing client's online solution.

The client - a major financial institution - decided to change their Pension and Flexible Benefits administrators in the UK abd Buck Consultants became their new providers in April 2008.  Strait Logics became involved in the project after Buck Consultants created an online system for the client's Flexible Benefits scheme, in collaboration with another service provider.

Strait Logics developer, William Armstrong commented; "We were asked to modify the PDF on Demand product so that we could then plug this in to their existing system.  The tool had to be capable of allowing the consultancy to produce PDF statements from a single secure webpage, based on personnel data files, stored on their database."

This versatile and innovative application can be used to personalise a number of various HR documents, representing the most up to date employee information, at the push of a button.
