We are living in a time where data protection is even more at
the forefront of our minds. The security of information stored
about us is at the mercy of those who collect and process it, the
protection of this data is therefore top priority for all those
involved.
At Strait Logics, we acknowledge our
duty to impose information security policies and procedures to
protect the identity and integrity of personally identifiable
information (PII). Over the last year we have reviewed our policies
and procedures and have identified areas in which the protection of
data can be taken a step further with regards to data storage and
transmission.
We have introduced a two-tier
encryption system for all drives that store PII using Truecrypt
software and a keyfile holding pen-drive. With the two put
together, access to hard drives storing PII becomes even more
restricted and therefore even more protected.
Data transmission is an integral
process of our business and the ease at which this is enabled is
essential to smooth project development and delivery. Until
recently, FTP (File Transfer Protocol) was our chosen method of
data transmission whilst still accepting data attached in e-mails.
However, since reviewing our policies and procedures, the Company
has taken a proactive stance on data transfer and has imposed the
use of FTPS (FTP Secure), a more secure form of data transfer, as
the only method of data transmission, unless arranged
otherwise.
We are now even more confident that the
security of personally identifiable information is protected to the
highest level, at all times.
